My son was diagnosed with ADHD – combined (inattentive and hyperactivity) when he was 6 years old.  I was relieved he had a diagnosis but overwhelmed with what came next.  I didn’t know much about ADHD and no idea how to read an IEP.  I understand how challenging and difficult it is to parent a child with ADHD.  We had days filled with frustration, anger, irritation, and tears.  We still have those days.

As a parent who has a child with ADHD, I have attended numerous IEP meetings. I understand the frustrations of a parent who feels their child's educational needs are not being met, or that the district is not adhering to the IEP.  There are so many accommodations and recommendations that a child with ADHD can benefit from at school.

I want parents to be heard.  I want to bridge the gap between parents and schools.
